Glenti

The Greek Glenti Festival is an initiative of the Greek Orthodox Community of Northern Australia Inc. that began as the Greek Community’s contribution to the Australian Bicentenary celebrations in 1988.

Greek Glenti Profile

It provides the opportunity to the Greek Community to share with the wider community their music, language, food, art and the developments that Greek-Australians have made in the community.

From its humble beginnings in 1988, the Greek Glenti Festival has developed into the largest ethnic celebration in the Northern Territory annual calendar. It is estimated that the Greek Festival attracts in excess of 15,000 people every year.

The success of the Greek Glenti Festival has been a mixture of three (3) major factors. Firstly, the Greek Glenti Festival has maintained a community base ensuring a ‘home-made’ atmosphere. Secondly, the venue for the Greek Glenti Festival is easily accessible and provides a pleasant surrounding for the public to relax and be entertained. Finally, the Greek Glenti Festival is provided to the community ‘Free of Charge’, with the only costs being for food and drink, therefore it can be affordable to any budget.
